2021 Wedding Trends

I was recently interviewed by the Daytona Beach News Journal about the 2021 Wedding Trends. It was so fun discussing all the Wedding Trends I see as a Wedding Planner. I thought I would go a little more in depth about them here.

Masks

After the crazy year of 2020, and the Global Pandemic of Covid-19, mask wearing has become a required necessity for many events. This has created an interesting trend of custom masks. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons! Your guests and vendors can all be provided with a mask listing the date of your Wedding and your name. It can also be something for guests to remember your special day by as well.

Naked Cake

Simple wedding cakes have been in style for several years now. However, taking it one step further are naked wedding cakes or semi-naked wedding cakes. Trending on Pinterest boards and in actual weddings are very light icing with minimal flowers on top. The majority of toppers for wedding cakes now are the couples name or flowers from your florist to coordinate with the Brides other floral arrangements.

Simple Décor

After 2020 I believe most couples realize that even having the opportunity to have an event with family and friends is a blessing. This has lead to more scaled back and tasteful decorations. Simple flower decorations or candle centerpieces have replaced extravagant wedding decorations. Also with the popularity of All-Inclusive Wedding Venues offering simple and reusable wedding decorations, it has taken the stress out of major wedding decorations.

Guest List

Until the vaccine rollout is complete and more people become comfortable being in large groups of people, guest lists will stay relatively small for 2021. The average guest list now is 80-120 people, as compared to past years where guest lists would easily be over 200 people. With concerns about traveling still lingering the likelihood of guests traveling out of state has decreased. I believe a more local wedding with close family and friends will continue to trend until 2022.

Venues

In Florida, Beach Weddings will never go out of style. The beautiful sunsets and white sandy beaches make it an ideal location for Wedding Ceremony’s and Wedding Pictures. With the beautiful scenery also comes the Florida Heat and unpredictable rain showers too. This is why beach wedding venues must come with an easy indoor option as well. Hotel and Resorts along the Atlantic Ocean, like The Shores Resort & Spa and The Plaza in Daytona Beach are some of my favorite beach venues. You are able to have the flexibility of an outdoor Wedding Venue and ease of an air conditioned ballroom for your reception or ceremony back up.

Also very trendy are Barn Venues. With All-Inclusive venues like The Grand Ol’ Barn in New Smyrna Beach or Happily Every After Peach Barn in Mimms, FL your dream of a romantic and rustic venue can be realized. With airy outdoor spaces for ceremony’s and large beautifully decorated indoor ballroom couples can’t go wrong with a grand party in a refurnished barn style venue.

Love can not be Cancelled

I am excited for the Wedding Industry to rebuild in 2021 after events had to be put on hold in 2020. I know that LOVE can not be cancelled. No matter what, people are still going to fall in love and make commitments to each other. This is my favorite trend, Love never fails!
